Kanary Voice for iOS Privacy Policy

What the app does

Kanary Voice records microphone audio and shows live captions, with optional translation, on your iPhone. Finished recordings can be handed off to Kanary on your Mac.

Data collected

• No personal data is collected
• Recordings and caption text are never sent to Kanary's servers
• Speech recognition and translation run on your iPhone using Apple frameworks; Apple may download language models on request
• The app does not send analytics or crash reports to Kanary

How data is stored

Recordings are stored on your iPhone. Live caption text is shown while captions run and is not saved by the app. You can delete recordings in the app at any time.

iCloud handoff

When iCloud is available, the app automatically attempts to place finished recordings in your own iCloud account so that Kanary on your Mac can import them. This uses Apple's iCloud service under your iCloud settings, including Advanced Data Protection if you have enabled it. Kanary runs no server in this path. Recording and live captions also work without iCloud or a Mac.

Sharing

In addition to the automatic iCloud handoff described above, you can send audio to destinations you choose through the system share sheet.
